we are preparing a container of
medical equipment destined for
Uganda. Three major recipients:
Tekera, Jaaja Barb House of Angels
Orphanage and the Kiyunga Health
Centre are all in desperate need of
medical supplies.
As well as medical equipment and supplies there is a need for all types of hand tools that will be included in the shipment. Good time to clean out your garage and bring along extra tools you can spare. Collection date is March 17 - Think green and Think tools.

The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen is embarking on a new international project to ship a 45 feet container of medical supplies and equipment to three different charities near Masaka, Uganda. Rotary World Help Network will be collecting donated medical supplies and equipment from our local hospitals and will arrange for the shipping.
The Rotary Club of Masaka will assist the unloading once the container arrives in Masaka. One of the recipients is Tekera Resource Center. The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen has been a long time benefactor of Tekera. The Tekera mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Tekera/Lwega and build a model community.
Jaaja Barb's Home of Angels located in Jinja is also a recipient of the container. This orphanage was established by Barb Giraud of Abbotsford, B.C. 6 years ago. Barb Giraud is known as the "Banana Bread Lady" by B.C. media as she raised her funds to start and support this orphanage by making and selling banana bread to local grocery chains.
Our third recipient is the Kiyunga Health Center, located in the Luuka district of eastern Uganda. Kiyunga Health Center is set to become the district hospital, serving eight areas with total population of 242,453, with over 57,908 under the age of five.
This health center/hospital is constantly in a sorry state due to a severe shortage of resources. Parents and people caring for premature babies at the health facility are forced to light charcoal stoves and lamps to give the babies warmth because electrical service is unreliable at the hospital.
In addition to medical supplies and equipment from Rotary World Help, we are hoping to be able to send along some other much needed construction and garden hand tools including hammers, nails, and other basic equipment. A wish list will be emailed to our members. Please support and share this request with family, friends and neighbors. It is a worthwhile project to help those who are less fortunate.
