There is a global water crisis with 785 million people lacking access to clean water - that's 1 in 10 people! Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day.
Rotary Club of Tsawwassen has partnered with other local Rotary Clubs and Acts for Water for our WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) project which is helping to provide sustainable and safe water in southwest Uganda. Over 400 members of the community of Ibanda are hand-digging trenches from aquifers in the hillsides and laying pipe across a 40 kilometre span to a water reservoir which can then deliver clean water to the front of schools, health centres and homes. Rotarians are planning their trip to the region soon to further support the project.
